What
your
best
memories
of
the
whole
thing?
Like
specific
things
that
leap
out?
What
are
your
best
memories?
of
it
all ?
obviously
Ewood
Mill
is
one
of
the
best
memories
just
how
people
came
together
from
all
walks
of
life…
from
all
walks
of
life
and
memories
are
as
well
is
that…
that’s
what
we
lived
for
we
all
we
wanted
to
do
was
dance.
That
is
all
you
wanted
to
do
and
we’d
go
out
Thursday
Friday
Saturday
Sunday,
you
know,
obviously
we
held
jobs
down
as
well.
We
all
had
jobs
y’know
and
yeah,
it
was
just
coming
together
of
people
and
making
new
friends.
Yeah,
and
then…
and
also
you
you
got
all
them
people
all
my
mates
and
all
them
all
from
council
estates,
all
off
council
estates,
you
know
over
in
Leyland
and
where
have
you…
and
we’re
all
brought
up
a
bit
deprived
like
that.
I
never
had
much
right
and
then
it
was
all
my
mates
and
everybody
I
didn’t
get
into
football
me
what
they
try
and
drag
be
you
go
on
football
fight
everybody
from
all
over
the
place
and
all
that
weren’t
it?
was
all
that
and
boozing
so
then
all
of
a
sudden
this
little
movement
of
the
rave
scene
popped
up
and
everybody
thought….
…..
and
then
they
went
and
thought
well,
this
is
what
we’ve
been
waiting
for
in
it
everybody
then..
all
the
lads
that
all
went
to
football
matches
all
my
mates
came
to
Blackburn
were
they’d
come
at
weekends
where
they’d
all
knock
s**t
out
of
each
other…
and
you
get
Bolton
coming
over
you
get
Leyland
all
supporters
of…
everyone
all
together
all
drinking
water
hugging
loving
and
having
the
time
of
their
lives.
That’s
what
stands
out in
my
mind
and
everybody
went
away
from
that
with
the
mindset
of
we
don’t
need
this
violent
s**t
anymore,
and
it
calmed
down
the
football
violence
in
the streets
and
in
the
council
estates
because
people
thought….
we’re
actually
living…
we’re
working
to
live
for
something
now.
There’s
actually
something
there
for
us
because
there
was
nothing
wer’
there ?
And
the
night
clubs
that
were
you
don’t…
you’re
going
in
like
in
that
film
said
were
full o’
bouncers
waiting
to
beat
you
up
and
and
all
that
boozin’
and
all
that
and
police
never
bothered
on
them.
But
when
we
tried
to
do
it
without
alcohol
but
the
little
bit
of…
some
people
did
use
drugs
some
people
didn’t!
Because
they
was
high
on
life!
but
it’s
that’s
the
best
thing
that’s
come
out
of
it
I
think
people
getting
together
community
spirit
and
just
all
loving
each
other
look
at
that
Blackburn
example.
Everybody
on
water
weren’t
they
a
few
boozin’
everybody
that..
the
atmosphere
in
there
were
flowing
weren’t it?
Everybody
was
smiling.
Everybody
were
hugging.
Everybody
were…
Hiya
or..
all
right?
Brilliant!
From
everywhere,
and
there’wa
people
boozin
but
there
were
no
trouble…
For
me
as
well..
it
is
the
music…
I
go
to…
you
know,
there’s
a
lot
of
things
on
now
isn’t
there?
But
we
pick
and..
to
make
sure
we
go
to
like
King
Georges
Hall
Yeah,
and
you
know,
it’s
the
goosebumps.
It’s
how
it
catapults
you
back.
Yeah,
course
it
does…
you
know,
you
can
listen
to
a
song
and
you
think
you
can
we
know
where
your
life
was…
THAT
time
dancing
to
that
song wi’
such
a
body
n’
my
mates
and
I
go…
remember
this
when
we
used
to
be
like
that…
woahhhh…
We’re
on it!
like
at
Blackburn..
King Georges Hall
memories
and
soon
as
music
comes
into
it.
It
sparks
something
and
you
go
back
to
it…
or…
that
smell…
that
taste
with
them…
people
remember
this
emotion…
because
you’ve
never
heard
it
again
since
all
them
years
ago
you’ve
never
heard
it
like
we
went
to
Blackburn
…..
WOW
(whispering)
I
mean
Jay
Wearden,
I
knew
were’a’were
when
that
specific
tune were
played
that
tune
hasn’t
been
played
at
any
other
venue
we’ve
been
to
since
them
days.
Hardcore
Uproar…
what
does
that
do
for
us?
Well,
that
is
UPLIFTING
See we
don’t
take
drugs…
I
can
go
in
me…
and
dance
all
night
off
just
medicine’
Rosie
doesn’t
take
anything
she
drinks
water
and
I
have
a
couple
of
pints…
Come
on…
We
always
danced
to ‘the
last
record
and
go
home
and
have
tea
and
toast.
2
paracetamol
go
bed
laughs
2
paracetamol
and
I
have
Nurofen
for
the
legs
what
helps
me…
I
exercise
a
lot
so
I’ve
you
know..
because
people
say
to
me,
you
know,
how
do
you
do
it?
And
it’s
cos
I
exercise
you
know
stamina?
and
that…
How
much
How old
do
you
want
to
put
on
us?
I’m
not
going
to…
55
me.
No
way.
Yeah
52
been
together
since
we
were
17
34…
5
years
and
Married
30
this
year.
1989
Pearl
wedding.
Yeah,
we’ve
done
this
together
since
we
met
music
and
dancing.
That’s
all
we’re
about
us
dancing.
We’re
dancers
and
it
has
kept
us
together…
course
it
has
you
know
massively.
Everybody
else
throws
the
towel
in
too
early.
Don’t
they!
Know
what
I mean?
Don’t
they!
Like
tonight,
We’re
going
to
a Reggae
Dub
do
that
I
love
my
Reggae
that’s
my
background.
You
got
me
into
other
music
Rosie
loves
her
Reggae
she
were
brought
with
me
with
my
Reggae
so
we
got
to
dance
do’s
and
I
love
my
dance
do’s…
But
tonight
we
go
to
my
do
and
she
loves
it.
It’s
one
big
Dub
family
and
we
dance
all
night
together
don’t
we!
Couldn’t
be
better!
I
don’t
want to
ask this
question
because
you’re
the
loveliest
people
I’ve
ever
met..
but
the
same
questions…
D’you
have
any
dark
memories
from
the
time?
only
gettin
knocked
about
by
police
that
night
with
girls
and
they’re
all
being
sick
were
horrible.
Yeah
that
that
went
to
go
on
up
before
I
forget.
We…
the
one
that
sticks
in
my
mind…
I
don’t
think
it
was
a
Blackburn
1
was
Barnoldswick
one…
Barnoldswick.
Yeah,
a
policemen
died
that
night.
Yeah,
but
we
got
pl…
all
driving
in…
in…
in
convoys
we
got
chased
yeah,
we
all
drove
into
the
village
and
the
police
and
one
of
their
officers
died
of
a
heart
attack.
So
a
word
went
round
there’s
a
copper
dead…
We’ve
had
it
So
what
they
did
the
police
blocked
off
the
village
with
us
in
it
weren’t
letting
us
out.
Everybody
got
out
of
the
vehicles
to
go
to
this
party.
There
were
no
party
they’d
already
stopped
it
But
they
didn’t
tell
us
that
as
everyone
were
driving
in
they
let us
drive in
but
what
an
hour
before
the
party
had
been
stopped
everything
taken
away
or
sommat
they
stopped
it
so
they
let
us
go
in…
come
on
into
the
bay…
Yeah,
we
all
drove
in
but
police
parked
up
like
that…
we’d
all
walked
to
hill
though
we
parked
up
top
of
an
hill.
We
thought
oh,
yeah,
it’s
around
here.
So
we
went
down
and
they
come
at
us
from
there.
Yeah,
and
then
they
planned
it
got
us
all
there
they
pulled
them
out
in
the
we
run
into
these
warehouse
units
now
and
I’m
with
girls
me
because
I’m
looking…
I’m
one
o’them
people
look
after
people.
So
i’m
with
girls
all
lads
have
run
and
I
sit
with
this
lot
me…
my
wife’s
there’s
obviously
hidin’ in
gardens.
didn’t
we.
They’re
out
with
the
coshes
and
he’s
going
through
the
bushes
didn’t
he
going
they’re
in
here
somewhere
they’re
I’ve
got
one
you
could
hear
people
gettin’
belted
it
was
Vicky
bless
her
she’s
dead
now,
she
were
bein
sick
weren’t
she
were
that
scared
was
spewing
up
all
over
please
he’s
gonna
get
us
and
we
thought
he
were
gonna
work
through
bushes
slowly
and
we’ve
had
it
and
we
came
from
bushes-
moved
on
this
squad
of
police
there were
loads of
them
battering
people
and
they
dragged
em
off.
We
were
left
there
hiding
so
we
walked
up
the
canal
then
we
saw..
bless
her
Chief
of
Police
woman.
Yeah…
in
all
the
regalia
are
all
pips
and
stuff
with
a
massive
squad
behind
her
walking
down
canal
and
I
just
walked
up
and
I
said,
excuse
me,
please
don’t
hurt
us.
Can
you
help
us
please?
My
wife
these
girls
here
are
all
crying
their
eyes
out.
She’s
been
sick.
We’ve
just
had
to
witness
being
battered
in
the
bushes
right
and
thank
God…
we
didn’t
get
hit
by
your
men.
But
can
you
please
escort
us
out?
We
want
to
go
home
and
she
went…
she
did
Yes
I
will.
All
you
officers
escort
these…
nobody
touch
them
and
then
they
through
her…
I
said
to
her
thank
you
for
that
love.
Thanks.
She
saved
our
lives
her.
She
knew
we
were
s**ttingting
it
and
they
got
us
out
and
then
they
took
everybody’s
name
and
address
in
a
roadblock
driving
out
because
the
copper
died
and
that
night
that
was
when
we
said
we
can’t
do
this.
I
can’t
do
this
anymore.
You
know,
that
is
what
really
stopped
us
around
with
it
because
the’re
killing
people
here
it
dark
with
no
numbers
on
I’m
not
a
part
of
this
me
because
they’re
going
to
if
they’d
got
hold
of us
them
people
being
battered
proper
but
that
like
knocked
it
for
us
didn’t
it?
Yeah,
and
then
after
that
it
was
more
the
club’s
it
was
like
Shelley’s
yeah
all
the
clubs,
you
know,
we
come
away
from
that
because
it
were
getting
to
heavy
with
the
police,
yeah,
they
weren’t
having
any
of
it,
we weren’t
actually
clocking
up
parties
anymore.
But
after
that
as
well
again,
we
met
back
up
with
Kelly
and
Kenneth
didn’t
we
and
we’ll
not
name
these…
but
we
met
up
with
some
yeah,
similar
to
what
was
being
done
in
Blackburn
really
at
this
point
where
police
couldn’t
find
us
That
was
more
Southport.
Yeah,
and
that
was
what
we
did
Formby
beach
us
yeah.
(Chuckles)
Yeah…
you
know,
there
was
all…
all
that
ya
know
so
we
did
that…
And
Beyond…
and
it
was
brilliant
weren’t it
around
that
area.
Yeah,
they
were
fabulous,
got to
know
people
Kelly
Kenneth
had
our
own
security
didn’t
we?
Yeah,
we
had
horses
mounted
the
well,
that
was…
the
people
thought
they
were
old
bill
they
went…
Old
bills
here!
I
went
no!
They
are
our
lot…
6
of
them
full
riot
gear
on
everything
all
old
stuff
on
but
they
weren’t
police
our
radios!
I’m
just
making
sure
everything’s
all
right,
and
no
cars
have
been
broken
into
and
all
that.
Keeping
it
orderly.
Jamie
you
asked
me
I
think…
battons
down
here
but
not
one
were
drawn…
You
asked
me
maybe
what
you
know,
any
dark
memories
me
I
couldn’t
take…
you
know
that
obviously
people
took
things
and
that
which
was
there
but
for
me
I
didn’t
enjoy
that
side
of
things.
I
struggled
with
that
you
know,
but
the
banter
going
back
to
it…
I mean
that
was
a
big
thing
as
well
after
party,
but
the
tattiness
and
the
banter
and
the
crack
that
you
used
to…
we
all
used
to
have.
That’s
a
big
part
of
it
as
well…
You
know,
yeah.
Yeah.
Well
part
of
the
night
split
into
2
when
you
went
back
to
some
where…
Yeah,
you
know
so
it’s
the
warehouses
and
then,
it’s
that…
as
well
that
was
a
big
part
of
it.
But
for
me,
you
know,
it’s
like
now
I’m
happy
where
I’m
at.
I’m
music
the
music.
It’s
meeting
up
with
people
again
and
doing
it
off
my
on
energy,
you
know
getting
high
off
the
music
know
what
I
mean?
That’s
where
I’m
at
in
life.
And
I
think
somebody
is
it
Alex?
She
just
said,
you
know,
not
a
lot
of
women
are
coming
to
participate
in
this.
I
think
it’s
because
probably
women
I
don’t
know
some
people
even
men
they
get
to
stage
they
think
you
know,
we’re
at
certain
age
and
we
shouldn’t
be
doing
that
anymore.
Well,
there’s
no
age
limit
to
carry
on
doing
what
we
did
then,
you
know
music
to
the
best
advert
for
it!
One
of
the
scariest
things
to
do…
is
to
go
into
warehouse
parties
in
its
time
was
we’ve
been
today
to
take
photographs
little
bit.
Nostalgia
Took
Rosie
to
to
this
like
4
story.
I
think
it’s
4
story
building.
On
way
back
from
the
hospital
on
your
left
pulls
in.
I
said
remember
that
we
went
outside
and
there
was
a
wrought
iron
step
fire
escape
laugh
the
calm
down
the
building’s
to’the
car
park.
We
pulled
up
didn’t
we
you
and
all
your
mates
the
Leyland
lot
everybody
but
it
was
full
up
stairs
were
bouncin’
there’s
a
little
door
at
top
you
walked
and
that
were
locked
You’re
talking
about
the
boxing
gym?
That’s
it!
That’s
it!
top
floor.
So
everybody’s
downstairs
and
it
were
packed
and
all
you
lot
everybody’s
excited.
Everybody
wants
to
get
in.
Let’s
get
up!
yeah,
so
they
all
go up
fire
escape
I were
one
of
them
people
that
always
kept
me
wits
about
me
looked
after
people.
I’m
still
doing
it
today
aren’t
I
said
that to
Tommy
I still
look
after
people
when
we’re
all
out
just
incase
they
errr
get
a
bit
too
tatty
and
they
don’t
know
what
they’re
doing…
I’m
there
to
say…
Well
think
about
it.
So
everyone’s
runs
up
this
fire
escape
and
they
couldn’t
get
in
there
everyones
dancing
and
everyone’s
going
woooo
and
then
people
started
to
climb
upside
of
it.
You’ve
got
like
150
150
people
people
on
on
a
200
year
old
rusty….
not
made
for
that
many
people
one
at
a
time
spot
single
file
innit
everybody’s
on
it
and
Rosie’s
going
go
and
I
said
“everybody
off…”
It’s
going
to
fall.
It’s
coming
off
wall
everybody
off
everybody
come
off
it
didn’t
they.
if they.
hadn’t
it’s…
just
gone
…..
so
today
I
said
to
Tony…
innit
weird
I
looked
at
it
today
and
it’s
still
intact…
but
I
have
visions
of
that….
full
of
people…
dark…
everybody
off
their
head…
No one
knew
what
they’re
doing
All
excited…
that
could
have
been
a
disaster
that
off
side
of
that
and
that
wouldn’t
have
been
a
good
thing
for
Acid
House
parties
…..
because
and
then
inside
you
got
capacity
of
people
in
a
building
aren’t
made
for
that…
and
floor
bowing
just
pause
for
a
second
now.
I’m
just
so
yeah
scary
story
about
that
that
same…
Go
on…
inside
office
in
the
corner
on
chair
and
hear
tapping
on
window
and
there’s
a
guy
hanging
off
the
roof
trying
to
get
in
through
the
window
and
I
saw
it
in window.
See
what
I
mean?
It’s
incredible
there
aren’t
really
bad
stories
I know
Yeah,
it
is
incredible
because
the
only
real
entrance
up
to
there
was
a
narrow
household
staircase.
Yeah,
if
there
had
been
anything
in
that
would
have
been
it
would
have
been
a
real
real
problem.
I
remember
that
to
this
day
and
we
mentioned
it
and
I’ve
took
photographs
today.
I
got
out
of
my
car.
Rolled
a
cig
Rosie
said
all
the
people
there
wonder
what
you’re
doing
this.
I
don’t
give
a
damn
I
went
up
and
started
taking
pictures
that
fire
escape
and
building
because
when
I
get
back
to
the
pub
this
afternoon,
I’m
going
to
show
me
mates
obviously
they
know
I’m
coming
here…
See
that
there?
And
when
I
told
you
about
that
fire
escape
still
there
and
I
took
a
picture
of
it
and
it’s
luckily
still
intact
and
nobody
died
and
I
got
em
down
all
of
us
didn’t
we
Yeah.
We
were
all
me
Janine
Joanne
like
everybody
were
just
excited
four
deep
on
it
the
people
climbing
up
side
of
it.
So
the
other
raves
that
we
with
the
work
the
warehouses
that
we
were
trying
to
reminisce
about
because
everything
does
get
mixed
up
and
we
said
we
remember
now..
Walkers
Steel…
Nelson…
Yeah.
Walkers
Steel…
Nelson…
Whitebirk
industrial
estate
Nelson
Police
came
in ?
rammed
the
door
remember
them
doing
that.
Been
close
to
a
good
hiding
a
few
times
like
haven’t
we.
Yeah,
it
was
worth
it
though.
He
obviously
knew
I
had
a
Mini
Cooper
S
me
for
convoys.
tuned
up
1340
fastest
thing
going
I
used
t’ do
lead
car
after
a
bit
me
and
just
remember
that
when
police
stopped
us
Motorway
we’re
going
to
M6
where
M6
branches
off
to
go
to
Queensferry
North
Wales
Ellesmere
Port
Range
Rover,
didn’t
they
he
pulled
off
on
slip
road
in’t
middle
of
three
lanes
you
come
off.
Is
it
M6
pulled
up?
in’t
middle
of
road
Range
Rover
got
out
and went
you
said
to me..
everybody
stops
and
I’m
at
front
sat in
Cooper
S
vrooom
and
went
round
his
vehicle
he
was
stood
hard
shoulder
waiting
for
everybody
go
fast,
but
we
never
we
got
it
did
we
they
chased
round
all
these
lanes
We
got
the
party
goin
they
stopped
it
helicopter
turned
up,
from
Liverpool
then
someone
went
PAKOW
distress
flair!
right
up
in
the
sky
right
across
Liverpool
Bay
Never
came
back.
There’s
another
thing
that’s
in
in
my
mind
when
we
left
Sett end
one
night
and
we
were
going
through
Blackburn.
Obviously,
the
residents
got
fed
up
with
it.
We
remember
a
resident
getting
a
gun
out
Not
hitting
but a
car
and
he
it
did
shot
at
the
convoy
and
it
hit
it
It
didn’t
hurt
anybody
hit
window
and
they
did
they
did
get
a
gun
out
and
then
as
we
were
coming
back
down.
car turned
over
on
its
roof
hadn’t
it?
D’ya
remember?
And
the
lads
were
all
out
and
we
were
like
that
was
at
Samlesbury
going
from
Blackburn.
It
were
to
Samlesbury
on
M6
left
and
head
for…
North
at
North
or
South…
innit
we
came
past
Samlesbury
and
a
lad
had
flipped
his
car
there
only
all stood round
laughing
Yeah,
so
then
we
went
down
the
hill
police
met us
didn’t
they
and
just
stood
there ‘n
went…
you’re
not
getting
on
motorway…
And
we
all
went
we’ve
got
to
because
we
live
that
way.
No,
you’re
not
so
they
sent
me
up
to
10000
cars
into
Preston
Preston
police
look
at
all
this
lot!
into
Preston
They
just
won’t
let
anybody
on
motorway
but
we
live
that
way!
you
know.
I
don’t
know
THAT
way
inta Preston
millions
of
people
off
their
heads
in
Preston.
Just
driving
around…
Is
there
a
party
here?
Sorry
Jamie.
You’re
sorry.
Wait,
wait,
I’ve
been
doing
this
work
with
I’m
interested
in
telling
these
working-class
stories.
Yeah.
mills
were
ours
but
for
me,
it’s
all
the
couple
1000
years.
Yeah
poets
in
these
mills….
cause
this
archive
we
didn’t
want to
make
a
film…
didn’t
want
to
tell
other
people
to
tell
the
story..
the
kids
in
100
years
going
to
be
able
to
listen
to
you
lot..
which
is
amazing.
Amazing.
what
would
you
say
what
you
did in
Blackburn
at this
time?
We’ve
actually
got
a
14
year
old
daughter
and
you
know,
she
you
know,
I
even
say
to
her
now
and
our
nieces
and
nephews
if
it
wasn’t
for
us….
Doing
what
we
did…
you
would
not
be
going
out
as
late
as
you
are…
to
the
clubs
and
partying!
and
experiencing
the
music
that
they
are
doing
Now.
That’s
what
I’d
say
to
them.
And
that
music
is
everything
as
well.
And
it’s
about
people
coming
together.
Social
media
and
all
that?
You
know,
they’re
not
connecting
how
we
used
to
and
and
talking
to
people..
The
art
of
conversation’s
going
now
through
social
media.
Yeah!
and
all
using
their
phones
and
all
that…
When
we
go
to
these
parties
I’ve
met
so
many
people
and
chat,
y’see
we
go
to
them
parties
and
you
don’t
necessarily
chat
inside
Ya
aint
got
time
You’re
too
busy
dancing
and
listening
to
music.
When
you
go
back
to
the
social
events
after
that
when
everybody
can
talk
and
you
meet
people
that’s
all
part
of
it.
That’s
part
of
the
package
of
the
night
and
day
innit?
That’s
what
you
go
out
for
that
freedom
to
be
able
to
be
with
all
your
friends
and
everybody
get
on
brilliantly.
Yeah,
you
know
imagine
if
we
did
this
by
email ?
it’d
be
rubbish
wouldn’t it ?
Yeah
art of
conversation’s
going!
people
need
to
talk
and
get
together
and
these
little
events
like
we
went
to
the
Spezial
adidas
thing
through
Tommy
and
the
likes
didn’t
we?
and
then
we’ve
met
some
great
kids
right.
Theyr’e
on
it!
I’ve
got
a
gang
me
a little
gang
right…
19
to
24
nicest
kids
you’ve
ever
met
all
Blackburn
boys.
I
was
outside
chatting
to
em.
havin
a
little….
you
know…
the’re
like
oh
great…
we
love
you
Frenchie
oh
brilliant
and
I’m
saying
so
..
How
come
you’re
here ?
It’s
great
to
see
people
of
your
age
coming
to
this
and
meeting…
and
they
wanted
to
know
my
stories
because
they
said
well
my
uncle
and
my
dad
used
to
be
into
all
these
and
stuff
like
that.
So
we’re
like
they’ve
cottoned
on
and
just
following
off
what
they’ve
heard
that
music
in
their
house
when
they
were
a
little
kid.
So
they’re
following
it
on
and
they’re
loving
it
They’re
going
so
they
all
said
t’me…
how
old
are
ya?
When
I
were
dancing
they
went
you
know,
they
couldn’t
believe
it!
but
they
were
buzzin’
off
it
BUZZIN’
off
it
and
they
said
like
oh
we
all
took
contact
numbers
we’ll
meet
again
another
time.
They’re
coming
to
our
Reggae
do
tonight
told
em
come
to
our
Reggae do
Keep
it
Blackburn.
Keep
it
all…
Blackburn
one
community..
Blackburn
back on
the map
Yeah.
Let’s
get
everybody
back
together
again.
Loving
each
other…
being
kind..
you
know
what
I
mean?
and
dancing
to
music.
Being
kind
absolutely.
Being
kind.
Yeah.
It’s
nice
to
be
nice…
It
is.

What
your
best
memories
of
the
whole
thing?
Like
specific
things
that
leap
out?
What
are
your
best
memories?
of
it
all ?
obviously
Ewood
Mill
is
one
of
the
best
memories
just
how
people
came
together
from
all
walks
of
life…
from
all
walks
of
life
and
memories
are
as
well
is
that…
that’s
what
we
lived
for
we
all
we
wanted
to
do
was
dance.
That
is
all
you
wanted
to
do
and
we’d
go
out
Thursday
Friday
Saturday
Sunday,
you
know,
obviously
we
held
jobs
down
as
well.
We
all
had
jobs
y’know
and
yeah,
it
was
just
coming
together
of
people
and
making
new
friends.
Yeah,
and
then…
and
also
you
you
got
all
them
people
all
my
mates
and
all
them
all
from
council
estates,
all
off
council
estates,
you
know
over
in
Leyland
and
where
have
you…
and
we’re
all
brought
up
a
bit
deprived
like
that.
I
never
had
much
right
and
then
it
was
all
my
mates
and
everybody
I
didn’t
get
into
football
me
what
they
try
and
drag
be
you
go
on
football
fight
everybody
from
all
over
the
place
and
all
that
weren’t
it?
was
all
that
and
boozing
so
then
all
of
a
sudden
this
little
movement
of
the
rave
scene
popped
up
and
everybody
thought….
…..
and
then
they
went
and
thought
well,
this
is
what
we’ve
been
waiting
for
in
it
everybody
then..
all
the
lads
that
all
went
to
football
matches
all
my
mates
came
to
Blackburn
were
they’d
come
at
weekends
where
they’d
all
knock
s**t
out
of
each
other…
and
you
get
Bolton
coming
over
you
get
Leyland
all
supporters
of…
everyone
all
together
all
drinking
water
hugging
loving
and
having
the
time
of
their
lives.
That’s
what
stands
out in
my
mind
and
everybody
went
away
from
that
with
the
mindset
of
we
don’t
need
this
violent
s**t
anymore,
and
it
calmed
down
the
football
violence
in
the streets
and
in
the
council
estates
because
people
thought….
we’re
actually
living…
we’re
working
to
live
for
something
now.
There’s
actually
something
there
for
us
because
there
was
nothing
wer’
there ?
And
the
night
clubs
that
were
you
don’t…
you’re
going
in
like
in
that
film
said
were
full o’
bouncers
waiting
to
beat
you
up
and
and
all
that
boozin’
and
all
that
and
police
never
bothered
on
them.
But
when
we
tried
to
do
it
without
alcohol
but
the
little
bit
of…
some
people
did
use
drugs
some
people
didn’t!
Because
they
was
high
on
life!
but
it’s
that’s
the
best
thing
that’s
come
out
of
it
I
think
people
getting
together
community
spirit
and
just
all
loving
each
other
look
at
that
Blackburn
example.
Everybody
on
water
weren’t
they
a
few
boozin’
everybody
that..
the
atmosphere
in
there
were
flowing
weren’t it?
Everybody
was
smiling.
Everybody
were
hugging.
Everybody
were…
Hiya
or..
all
right?
Brilliant!
From
everywhere,
and
there’wa
people
boozin
but
there
were
no
trouble…
For
me
as
well..
it
is
the
music…
I
go
to…
you
know,
there’s
a
lot
of
things
on
now
isn’t
there?
But
we
pick
and..
to
make
sure
we
go
to
like
King
Georges
Hall
Yeah,
and
you
know,
it’s
the
goosebumps.
It’s
how
it
catapults
you
back.
Yeah,
course
it
does…
you
know,
you
can
listen
to
a
song
and
you
think
you
can
we
know
where
your
life
was…
THAT
time
dancing
to
that
song wi’
such
a
body
n’
my
mates
and
I
go…
remember
this
when
we
used
to
be
like
that…
woahhhh…
We’re
on it!
like
at
Blackburn..
King Georges Hall
memories
and
soon
as
music
comes
into
it.
It
sparks
something
and
you
go
back
to
it…
or…
that
smell…
that
taste
with
them…
people
remember
this
emotion…
because
you’ve
never
heard
it
again
since
all
them
years
ago
you’ve
never
heard
it
like
we
went
to
Blackburn
…..
WOW
(whispering)
I
mean
Jay
Wearden,
I
knew
were’a’were
when
that
specific
tune were
played
that
tune
hasn’t
been
played
at
any
other
venue
we’ve
been
to
since
them
days.
Hardcore
Uproar…
what
does
that
do
for
us?
Well,
that
is
UPLIFTING
See we
don’t
take
drugs…
I
can
go
in
me…
and
dance
all
night
off
just
medicine’
Rosie
doesn’t
take
anything
she
drinks
water
and
I
have
a
couple
of
pints…
Come
on…
We
always
danced
to ‘the
last
record
and
go
home
and
have
tea
and
toast.
2
paracetamol
go
bed
laughs
2
paracetamol
and
I
have
Nurofen
for
the
legs
what
helps
me…
I
exercise
a
lot
so
I’ve
you
know..
because
people
say
to
me,
you
know,
how
do
you
do
it?
And
it’s
cos
I
exercise
you
know
stamina?
and
that…
How
much
How old
do
you
want
to
put
on
us?
I’m
not
going
to…
55
me.
No
way.
Yeah
52
been
together
since
we
were
17
34…
5
years
and
Married
30
this
year.
1989
Pearl
wedding.
Yeah,
we’ve
done
this
together
since
we
met
music
and
dancing.
That’s
all
we’re
about
us
dancing.
We’re
dancers
and
it
has
kept
us
together…
course
it
has
you
know
massively.
Everybody
else
throws
the
towel
in
too
early.
Don’t
they!
Know
what
I mean?
Don’t
they!
Like
tonight,
We’re
going
to
a Reggae
Dub
do
that
I
love
my
Reggae
that’s
my
background.
You
got
me
into
other
music
Rosie
loves
her
Reggae
she
were
brought
with
me
with
my
Reggae
so
we
got
to
dance
do’s
and
I
love
my
dance
do’s…
But
tonight
we
go
to
my
do
and
she
loves
it.
It’s
one
big
Dub
family
and
we
dance
all
night
together
don’t
we!
Couldn’t
be
better!
I
don’t
want to
ask this
question
because
you’re
the
loveliest
people
I’ve
ever
met..
but
the
same
questions…
D’you
have
any
dark
memories
from
the
time?
only
gettin
knocked
about
by
police
that
night
with
girls
and
they’re
all
being
sick
were
horrible.
Yeah
that
that
went
to
go
on
up
before
I
forget.
We…
the
one
that
sticks
in
my
mind…
I
don’t
think
it
was
a
Blackburn
1
was
Barnoldswick
one…
Barnoldswick.
Yeah,
a
policemen
died
that
night.
Yeah,
but
we
got
pl…
all
driving
in…
in…
in
convoys
we
got
chased
yeah,
we
all
drove
into
the
village
and
the
police
and
one
of
their
officers
died
of
a
heart
attack.
So
a
word
went
round
there’s
a
copper
dead…
We’ve
had
it
So
what
they
did
the
police
blocked
off
the
village
with
us
in
it
weren’t
letting
us
out.
Everybody
got
out
of
the
vehicles
to
go
to
this
party.
There
were
no
party
they’d
already
stopped
it
But
they
didn’t
tell
us
that
as
everyone
were
driving
in
they
let us
drive in
but
what
an
hour
before
the
party
had
been
stopped
everything
taken
away
or
sommat
they
stopped
it
so
they
let
us
go
in…
come
on
into
the
bay…
Yeah,
we
all
drove
in
but
police
parked
up
like
that…
we’d
all
walked
to
hill
though
we
parked
up
top
of
an
hill.
We
thought
oh,
yeah,
it’s
around
here.
So
we
went
down
and
they
come
at
us
from
there.
Yeah,
and
then
they
planned
it
got
us
all
there
they
pulled
them
out
in
the
we
run
into
these
warehouse
units
now
and
I’m
with
girls
me
because
I’m
looking…
I’m
one
o’them
people
look
after
people.
So
i’m
with
girls
all
lads
have
run
and
I
sit
with
this
lot
me…
my
wife’s
there’s
obviously
hidin’ in
gardens.
didn’t
we.
They’re
out
with
the
coshes
and
he’s
going
through
the
bushes
didn’t
he
going
they’re
in
here
somewhere
they’re
I’ve
got
one
you
could
hear
people
gettin’
belted
it
was
Vicky
bless
her
she’s
dead
now,
she
were
bein
sick
weren’t
she
were
that
scared
was
spewing
up
all
over
please
he’s
gonna
get
us
and
we
thought
he
were
gonna
work
through
bushes
slowly
and
we’ve
had
it
and
we
came
from
bushes-
moved
on
this
squad
of
police
there were
loads of
them
battering
people
and
they
dragged
em
off.
We
were
left
there
hiding
so
we
walked
up
the
canal
then
we
saw..
bless
her
Chief
of
Police
woman.
Yeah…
in
all
the
regalia
are
all
pips
and
stuff
with
a
massive
squad
behind
her
walking
down
canal
and
I
just
walked
up
and
I
said,
excuse
me,
please
don’t
hurt
us.
Can
you
help
us
please?
My
wife
these
girls
here
are
all
crying
their
eyes
out.
She’s
been
sick.
We’ve
just
had
to
witness
being
battered
in
the
bushes
right
and
thank
God…
we
didn’t
get
hit
by
your
men.
But
can
you
please
escort
us
out?
We
want
to
go
home
and
she
went…
she
did
Yes
I
will.
All
you
officers
escort
these…
nobody
touch
them
and
then
they
through
her…
I
said
to
her
thank
you
for
that
love.
Thanks.
She
saved
our
lives
her.
She
knew
we
were
s**ttingting
it
and
they
got
us
out
and
then
they
took
everybody’s
name
and
address
in
a
roadblock
driving
out
because
the
copper
died
and
that
night
that
was
when
we
said
we
can’t
do
this.
I
can’t
do
this
anymore.
You
know,
that
is
what
really
stopped
us
around
with
it
because
the’re
killing
people
here
it
dark
with
no
numbers
on
I’m
not
a
part
of
this
me
because
they’re
going
to
if
they’d
got
hold
of us
them
people
being
battered
proper
but
that
like
knocked
it
for
us
didn’t
it?
Yeah,
and
then
after
that
it
was
more
the
club’s
it
was
like
Shelley’s
yeah
all
the
clubs,
you
know,
we
come
away
from
that
because
it
were
getting
to
heavy
with
the
police,
yeah,
they
weren’t
having
any
of
it,
we weren’t
actually
clocking
up
parties
anymore.
But
after
that
as
well
again,
we
met
back
up
with
Kelly
and
Kenneth
didn’t
we
and
we’ll
not
name
these…
but
we
met
up
with
some
yeah,
similar
to
what
was
being
done
in
Blackburn
really
at
this
point
where
police
couldn’t
find
us
That
was
more
Southport.
Yeah,
and
that
was
what
we
did
Formby
beach
us
yeah.
(Chuckles)
Yeah…
you
know,
there
was
all…
all
that
ya
know
so
we
did
that…
And
Beyond…
and
it
was
brilliant
weren’t it
around
that
area.
Yeah,
they
were
fabulous,
got to
know
people
Kelly
Kenneth
had
our
own
security
didn’t
we?
Yeah,
we
had
horses
mounted
the
well,
that
was…
the
people
thought
they
were
old
bill
they
went…
Old
bills
here!
I
went
no!
They
are
our
lot…
6
of
them
full
riot
gear
on
everything
all
old
stuff
on
but
they
weren’t
police
our
radios!
I’m
just
making
sure
everything’s
all
right,
and
no
cars
have
been
broken
into
and
all
that.
Keeping
it
orderly.
Jamie
you
asked
me
I
think…
battons
down
here
but
not
one
were
drawn…
You
asked
me
maybe
what
you
know,
any
dark
memories
me
I
couldn’t
take…
you
know
that
obviously
people
took
things
and
that
which
was
there
but
for
me
I
didn’t
enjoy
that
side
of
things.
I
struggled
with
that
you
know,
but
the
banter
going
back
to
it…
I mean
that
was
a
big
thing
as
well
after
party,
but
the
tattiness
and
the
banter
and
the
crack
that
you
used
to…
we
all
used
to
have.
That’s
a
big
part
of
it
as
well…
You
know,
yeah.
Yeah.
Well
part
of
the
night
split
into
2
when
you
went
back
to
some
where…
Yeah,
you
know
so
it’s
the
warehouses
and
then,
it’s
that…
as
well
that
was
a
big
part
of
it.
But
for
me,
you
know,
it’s
like
now
I’m
happy
where
I’m
at.
I’m
music
the
music.
It’s
meeting
up
with
people
again
and
doing
it
off
my
on
energy,
you
know
getting
high
off
the
music
know
what
I
mean?
That’s
where
I’m
at
in
life.
And
I
think
somebody
is
it
Alex?
She
just
said,
you
know,
not
a
lot
of
women
are
coming
to
participate
in
this.
I
think
it’s
because
probably
women
I
don’t
know
some
people
even
men
they
get
to
stage
they
think
you
know,
we’re
at
certain
age
and
we
shouldn’t
be
doing
that
anymore.
Well,
there’s
no
age
limit
to
carry
on
doing
what
we
did
then,
you
know
music
to
the
best
advert
for
it!
One
of
the
scariest
things
to
do…
is
to
go
into
warehouse
parties
in
its
time
was
we’ve
been
today
to
take
photographs
little
bit.
Nostalgia
Took
Rosie
to
to
this
like
4
story.
I
think
it’s
4
story
building.
On
way
back
from
the
hospital
on
your
left
pulls
in.
I
said
remember
that
we
went
outside
and
there
was
a
wrought
iron
step
fire
escape
laugh
the
calm
down
the
building’s
to’the
car
park.
We
pulled
up
didn’t
we
you
and
all
your
mates
the
Leyland
lot
everybody
but
it
was
full
up
stairs
were
bouncin’
there’s
a
little
door
at
top
you
walked
and
that
were
locked
You’re
talking
about
the
boxing
gym?
That’s
it!
That’s
it!
top
floor.
So
everybody’s
downstairs
and
it
were
packed
and
all
you
lot
everybody’s
excited.
Everybody
wants
to
get
in.
Let’s
get
up!
yeah,
so
they
all
go up
fire
escape
I were
one
of
them
people
that
always
kept
me
wits
about
me
looked
after
people.
I’m
still
doing
it
today
aren’t
I
said
that to
Tommy
I still
look
after
people
when
we’re
all
out
just
incase
they
errr
get
a
bit
too
tatty
and
they
don’t
know
what
they’re
doing…
I’m
there
to
say…
Well
think
about
it.
So
everyone’s
runs
up
this
fire
escape
and
they
couldn’t
get
in
there
everyones
dancing
and
everyone’s
going
woooo
and
then
people
started
to
climb
upside
of
it.
You’ve
got
like
150
150
people
people
on
on
a
200
year
old
rusty….
not
made
for
that
many
people
one
at
a
time
spot
single
file
innit
everybody’s
on
it
and
Rosie’s
going
go
and
I
said
“everybody
off…”
It’s
going
to
fall.
It’s
coming
off
wall
everybody
off
everybody
come
off
it
didn’t
they.
if they.
hadn’t
it’s…
just
gone
…..
so
today
I
said
to
Tony…
innit
weird
I
looked
at
it
today
and
it’s
still
intact…
but
I
have
visions
of
that….
full
of
people…
dark…
everybody
off
their
head…
No one
knew
what
they’re
doing
All
excited…
that
could
have
been
a
disaster
that
off
side
of
that
and
that
wouldn’t
have
been
a
good
thing
for
Acid
House
parties
…..
because
and
then
inside
you
got
capacity
of
people
in
a
building
aren’t
made
for
that…
and
floor
bowing
just
pause
for
a
second
now.
I’m
just
so
yeah
scary
story
about
that
that
same…
Go
on…
inside
office
in
the
corner
on
chair
and
hear
tapping
on
window
and
there’s
a
guy
hanging
off
the
roof
trying
to
get
in
through
the
window
and
I
saw
it
in window.
See
what
I
mean?
It’s
incredible
there
aren’t
really
bad
stories
I know
Yeah,
it
is
incredible
because
the
only
real
entrance
up
to
there
was
a
narrow
household
staircase.
Yeah,
if
there
had
been
anything
in
that
would
have
been
it
would
have
been
a
real
real
problem.
I
remember
that
to
this
day
and
we
mentioned
it
and
I’ve
took
photographs
today.
I
got
out
of
my
car.
Rolled
a
cig
Rosie
said
all
the
people
there
wonder
what
you’re
doing
this.
I
don’t
give
a
damn
I
went
up
and
started
taking
pictures
that
fire
escape
and
building
because
when
I
get
back
to
the
pub
this
afternoon,
I’m
going
to
show
me
mates
obviously
they
know
I’m
coming
here…
See
that
there?
And
when
I
told
you
about
that
fire
escape
still
there
and
I
took
a
picture
of
it
and
it’s
luckily
still
intact
and
nobody
died
and
I
got
em
down
all
of
us
didn’t
we
Yeah.
We
were
all
me
Janine
Joanne
like
everybody
were
just
excited
four
deep
on
it
the
people
climbing
up
side
of
it.
So
the
other
raves
that
we
with
the
work
the
warehouses
that
we
were
trying
to
reminisce
about
because
everything
does
get
mixed
up
and
we
said
we
remember
now..
Walkers
Steel…
Nelson…
Yeah.
Walkers
Steel…
Nelson…
Whitebirk
industrial
estate
Nelson
Police
came
in ?
rammed
the
door
remember
them
doing
that.
Been
close
to
a
good
hiding
a
few
times
like
haven’t
we.
Yeah,
it
was
worth
it
though.
He
obviously
knew
I
had
a
Mini
Cooper
S
me
for
convoys.
tuned
up
1340
fastest
thing
going
I
used
t’ do
lead
car
after
a
bit
me
and
just
remember
that
when
police
stopped
us
Motorway
we’re
going
to
M6
where
M6
branches
off
to
go
to
Queensferry
North
Wales
Ellesmere
Port
Range
Rover,
didn’t
they
he
pulled
off
on
slip
road
in’t
middle
of
three
lanes
you
come
off.
Is
it
M6
pulled
up?
in’t
middle
of
road
Range
Rover
got
out
and went
you
said
to me..
everybody
stops
and
I’m
at
front
sat in
Cooper
S
vrooom
and
went
round
his
vehicle
he
was
stood
hard
shoulder
waiting
for
everybody
go
fast,
but
we
never
we
got
it
did
we
they
chased
round
all
these
lanes
We
got
the
party
goin
they
stopped
it
helicopter
turned
up,
from
Liverpool
then
someone
went
PAKOW
distress
flair!
right
up
in
the
sky
right
across
Liverpool
Bay
Never
came
back.
There’s
another
thing
that’s
in
in
my
mind
when
we
left
Sett end
one
night
and
we
were
going
through
Blackburn.
Obviously,
the
residents
got
fed
up
with
it.
We
remember
a
resident
getting
a
gun
out
Not
hitting
but a
car
and
he
it
did
shot
at
the
convoy
and
it
hit
it
It
didn’t
hurt
anybody
hit
window
and
they
did
they
did
get
a
gun
out
and
then
as
we
were
coming
back
down.
car turned
over
on
its
roof
hadn’t
it?
D’ya
remember?
And
the
lads
were
all
out
and
we
were
like
that
was
at
Samlesbury
going
from
Blackburn.
It
were
to
Samlesbury
on
M6
left
and
head
for…
North
at
North
or
South…
innit
we
came
past
Samlesbury
and
a
lad
had
flipped
his
car
there
only
all stood round
laughing
Yeah,
so
then
we
went
down
the
hill
police
met us
didn’t
they
and
just
stood
there ‘n
went…
you’re
not
getting
on
motorway…
And
we
all
went
we’ve
got
to
because
we
live
that
way.
No,
you’re
not
so
they
sent
me
up
to
10000
cars
into
Preston
Preston
police
look
at
all
this
lot!
into
Preston
They
just
won’t
let
anybody
on
motorway
but
we
live
that
way!
you
know.
I
don’t
know
THAT
way
inta Preston
millions
of
people
off
their
heads
in
Preston.
Just
driving
around…
Is
there
a
party
here?
Sorry
Jamie.
You’re
sorry.
Wait,
wait,
I’ve
been
doing
this
work
with
I’m
interested
in
telling
these
working-class
stories.
Yeah.
mills
were
ours
but
for
me,
it’s
all
the
couple
1000
years.
Yeah
poets
in
these
mills….
cause
this
archive
we
didn’t
want to
make
a
film…
didn’t
want
to
tell
other
people
to
tell
the
story..
the
kids
in
100
years
going
to
be
able
to
listen
to
you
lot..
which
is
amazing.
Amazing.
what
would
you
say
what
you
did in
Blackburn
at this
time?
We’ve
actually
got
a
14
year
old
daughter
and
you
know,
she
you
know,
I
even
say
to
her
now
and
our
nieces
and
nephews
if
it
wasn’t
for
us….
Doing
what
we
did…
you
would
not
be
going
out
as
late
as
you
are…
to
the
clubs
and
partying!
and
experiencing
the
music
that
they
are
doing
Now.
That’s
what
I’d
say
to
them.
And
that
music
is
everything
as
well.
And
it’s
about
people
coming
together.
Social
media
and
all
that?
You
know,
they’re
not
connecting
how
we
used
to
and
and
talking
to
people..
The
art
of
conversation’s
going
now
through
social
media.
Yeah!
and
all
using
their
phones
and
all
that…
When
we
go
to
these
parties
I’ve
met
so
many
people
and
chat,
y’see
we
go
to
them
parties
and
you
don’t
necessarily
chat
inside
Ya
aint
got
time
You’re
too
busy
dancing
and
listening
to
music.
When
you
go
back
to
the
social
events
after
that
when
everybody
can
talk
and
you
meet
people
that’s
all
part
of
it.
That’s
part
of
the
package
of
the
night
and
day
innit?
That’s
what
you
go
out
for
that
freedom
to
be
able
to
be
with
all
your
friends
and
everybody
get
on
brilliantly.
Yeah,
you
know
imagine
if
we
did
this
by
email ?
it’d
be
rubbish
wouldn’t it ?
Yeah
art of
conversation’s
going!
people
need
to
talk
and
get
together
and
these
little
events
like
we
went
to
the
Spezial
adidas
thing
through
Tommy
and
the
likes
didn’t
we?
and
then
we’ve
met
some
great
kids
right.
Theyr’e
on
it!
I’ve
got
a
gang
me
a little
gang
right…
19
to
24
nicest
kids
you’ve
ever
met
all
Blackburn
boys.
I
was
outside
chatting
to
em.
havin
a
little….
you
know…
the’re
like
oh
great…
we
love
you
Frenchie
oh
brilliant
and
I’m
saying
so
..
How
come
you’re
here ?
It’s
great
to
see
people
of
your
age
coming
to
this
and
meeting…
and
they
wanted
to
know
my
stories
because
they
said
well
my
uncle
and
my
dad
used
to
be
into
all
these
and
stuff
like
that.
So
we’re
like
they’ve
cottoned
on
and
just
following
off
what
they’ve
heard
that
music
in
their
house
when
they
were
a
little
kid.
So
they’re
following
it
on
and
they’re
loving
it
They’re
going
so
they
all
said
t’me…
how
old
are
ya?
When
I
were
dancing
they
went
you
know,
they
couldn’t
believe
it!
but
they
were
buzzin’
off
it
BUZZIN’
off
it
and
they
said
like
oh
we
all
took
contact
numbers
we’ll
meet
again
another
time.
They’re
coming
to
our
Reggae
do
tonight
told
em
come
to
our
Reggae do
Keep
it
Blackburn.
Keep
it
all…
Blackburn
one
community..
Blackburn
back on
the map
Yeah.
Let’s
get
everybody
back
together
again.
Loving
each
other…
being
kind..
you
know
what
I
mean?
and
dancing
to
music.
Being
kind
absolutely.
Being
kind.
Yeah.
It’s
nice
to
be
nice…
It
is.
